Prerequisite: Completion of an Introductory course.
This two-week course builds on the information presented in the Introductory Course. Students receive a HANDLE Screening, insights into their own unique ways of functioning in the world, and individualized programs of HANDLE activities. Participants learn to administer the HANDLE Screening Tool and evaluate the findings.
Course Description
The course is divided into two 7-day sessions with homework between the two sessions. The first session is a combination of classroom and small group experiences intended to:
The second session of the course includes a practicum during which students conduct HANDLE Screenings under supervision. Participants are required to:
Completion standards are competency based. If a student is not able to demonstrate competency during the course, arrangements will be made to complete requirements.
During the second session, students also learn ways to introduce HANDLE to their own communities, and to build their HANDLE practice or to incorporate HANDLE into their own existing business.
Following the second session, each student is required to complete a take home exam, which is essentially a dialogue with the instructor in which the student demonstrates understanding of HANDLE and ability to explain, in simple language, HANDLE principles. Each student is also requied to perform three practice HANDLE Screenings, which are written up and submitted by the student to the instructor.
The interval between the first and second sessions varies from 4–12 weeks, to allow students to do their HANDLE programs, to integrate the information, to practice the tasks of the Screening Tool and the new activities learned, and to complete the homework assignments. Both sessions are required, however it may be possible to join session 1 of the course in one location and session 2 in another location.
Fees vary. Please check course listings on the Schedule of Events page for the specific training course.
