  • Restore themselves to productive, creative living

The HANDLE Institute’s community outreach and training programs are designed to:

  • Introduce the HANDLE Approach to communities (even those with limited resources), to help enable persons who have neurodevelopmental differences and challenging/puzzling behaviors to lead productive, fulfilling lives, that are well-integrated into their communities
  • Maintain an international network of support for HANDLE service providers and clients

The HANDLE Institute is continually expanding the realm of community information, professional training and clinical services provided by the Institute.

History:

The HANDLE Institute was established in 1994 as an organization to provide clinical services and training in the HANDLE Approach. The HANDLE Institute also works to further develop the innovative understanding and methods that comprise the HANDLE Approach.

Initially the HANDLE approach grew out of one individual's experiences. As a result, the road to credibility depended to some extent on independent research "catching up" with the experiences of those who had benefitted from HANDLE. Over time, however, independent studies have corroborated and validated HANDLE as a beneficial treatment modality.

The HANDLE Institute’s founder, Judith Bluestone, personally treated over 4,000 individuals and families using HANDLE, prior to her passing in 2009. In its first 5 years alone, The HANDLE Institute provided clinical services to over 700 individuals. In addition, thousands of other individuals have been treated, worldwide, by certified HANDLE Practitioners.
